Biography
Mari currently teaches macroeconomics primarily to undergraduates but has, over the years, taught a wide range of economic modules including research methods, introductory economics, financial strategy, and corporate strategy. Mari has extensive experience teaching to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in both the College of Business and Law and the College of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Social Sciences. Dr. O’ Connor also has extensive experience supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate student dissertations, as well as mentoring undergraduate placement students.
Mari’s research interests focus on innovation including, but not limited to, firm level innovation, regional innovation, eco/green innovation, family firms, and SME innovation, automation and business performance. Mari has published her work in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals including International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research, International Journal of Innovation Management, and Cogent Economics and Finance. Mari has secured research funding from the EU’s Ireland-Wales co-operation programme, the China Scholarship Council, and other national sources. Mari has previously supervised both Research by Masters and doctoral degree students. She is currently co-supervisor of two PhD theses focusing on automation in China and an examination of economic and social value of community organisations to inform sustainably healthcare funding models.
